Building Trustworthy AI Agents by Abstracting Infrastructure
September 10, 2025 -I'm excited to share another collaboration with AWS on a recent blog post: Build trustworthy AI agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Observability.
A key challenge when building and scaling AI agents is the complexity of setting up and managing the underlying infrastructure for observability. Traditionally, this has been a heavy lift for developers, requiring them to configure and maintain separate systems for monitoring, logging, and tracing. This often becomes an afterthought, which is a mistake when building systems that need to be trustworthy and transparent.
The post introduces Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Observability, a solution designed to address this very problem. It provides a comprehensive, out-of-the-box monitoring solution that works across different agent frameworks and foundation models. This is a significant step forward because it abstracts away the need for developers to build and manage complex observability infrastructure themselves.
With AgentCore Observability, you get:
- Effortless Setup: For agents hosted on the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime, observability is automatically enabled. For other environments, it's a matter of setting a few environment variables.
- End-to-End Traceability: Developers get instant visibility into agent interactions, performance metrics, and can debug issues without having to piece together data from multiple sources.
- Standardization: It's built on OpenTelemetry, which means it integrates easily into the broader ecosystem of observability tools.
By removing the undifferentiated heavy lifting of setting up monitoring and observability, developers can focus on what truly matters: building reliable, effective, and trustworthy AI agents. This allows for faster iteration, quicker debugging, and ultimately, a better end-user experience.
I highly recommend reading the full post to understand how this new capability can help streamline your AI agent development lifecycle.
